John began his career as a professional ballet and ballroom dancer, appearing in competitions and on stage and screen. John’s credits as a dancer include The Carol Burnett Show, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and other popular television shows.
After his dancing career, John transitioned to coaching professional dancers preparing for competition. His coaching practice eventually broadened to include training coaches in other fields and leading personal development courses for professionals.
Later, John was recruited by the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, where he remained for over a decade, to teach courses on leadership and organizational culture. During his time at USC, John co-wrote The Coaching Revolution and Tribal Leadership. The latter became a New York Times bestseller, with over 200,000 copies in print around the world.
John’s greatest passion remains teaching. As a guest lecturer, he has taught graduate students at the University of Arizona and the University of Oklahoma, among other institutions. A popular keynote speaker, John has inspired large audiences from Abu Dhabi to Kazakhstan with his transformational approach to leadership.
Today, John continues to provide executive coaching to a clientele of leaders from around the world. He lives in Ajijic, Mexico.
